The Crown, the rules

Effective Date: October 1, 2026

The Crown is a game inside the Floor, the app for members of Jilani Place. Pour five cups to the line; the best score of the week holds the Crown. These are the rules the app shows under How it works.

The game in one sentence

Stop five cups at the line, beat the week's best score to take the Crown, and hold it at 9pm Sunday for a free coffee.

The rules

  1. The Crown is free to play. There is no stake, no purchase and no fee. You need a free member account.
  2. Milk rises in five cups, one after another, each faster than the last. Tap Stop to stop each cup at its line.
  3. Each cup scores out of 100: the closer to the line, the higher. A cup that runs past the brim scores nothing. Your pour's score is the average of the five, to one decimal place.
  4. You get three pours a day, Toronto time. A pour counts as soon as it starts.
  5. The best score of the week holds the Crown. To take it you have to beat it; a tie stays with whoever got there first.
  6. The week runs from midnight Monday to 9pm Sunday, Toronto time. Whoever holds the Crown at 9pm Sunday wins the week's prize. A new week starts at midnight.
  7. The prize is one coffee at Cafe 295 (any drip or filter coffee, approximate retail value $3.50). There is one prize a week. It appears in the app under coffees waiting for you; collecting it means joining the Circle, which is free, and showing the counter code within 30 minutes of opening it. A code that lapses puts the coffee back for you.
  8. The game measures timing and skill. Chance plays no part in who wins.

The small print

Who runs it. Jilani Place Inc., a company incorporated in Ontario with its office at 295 The West Mall, Suite 700, Etobicoke, Ontario M9C 4Z4. Questions go to info@jilaniplace.com.

Who may play. Anyone with a Floor app member account, which is free and needs no tenancy, membership fee or purchase. You must be 18 or older, as our Terms of Use require for any account. No purchase is necessary to play or to win.

Apple is not involved. Jilani Place runs the Crown alone. Apple is not a sponsor of it and is not involved with it in any way.

Fair play. The house deals the cups and scores every pour; the app only reports when you tapped. A pour that could not have been played by hand, or that arrives after the week has closed, does not count. One account, one player. We may remove from the board, or withhold the prize for, any play made through more than one account, through automation, or through any other way around the rules.

What other members see. The board shows the name and photo on your Floor profile, with your best score that week. Whoever holds the Crown is named at the top of the Floor. Our Privacy Policy covers the game in section 10.

The prize. The coffee has no cash value and cannot be exchanged or transferred. It is not Circle points or credit.

Changes. We may change these rules or end the game with notice in the app. A change never takes away a prize already won.
